A Guide To the Gold Coast’s Best Surf Spots

The Gold Coast is a haven for surfers from all over the world, with almost guaranteed sunshine year-round, inviting sea temperatures and plenty of great right hand point breaks to enjoy. Whether you’re a complete beginner, have some experience, or consider yourself a seasoned pro, you’ll have no trouble enjoying the waves when you book one of our sought-after Surfers Paradise holiday rentals. Here are some of the great surf spots in the local area.

Surfers Paradise

Blessed with a long, sun-drenched golden beach and a spectacular skyline, the suburb truly lives up to its name as a Mecca for surf enthusiasts. Surfers Paradise Beach is particularly suitable for new surfers, and there are several surf schools close to our Gold Coast holiday apartments that offer lessons for complete beginners. Book a group session with friends and family or get out there on your own for some one on one tuition with a local expert.

Snapper Rocks

Located just a short drive or bus ride from our Surfers Paradise holiday rentals, this is one of the Gold Coast’s most renowned surf beaches. With good clean waves, south-easterly swells and probably the biggest and best barrels of all the beaches in the region, it is not hard to see why it is so popular. The beach also plays host to the Quicksilver Pro Surfing Tour each year.

Burleigh Heads

The waters at Burleigh are partially protected from South Easterly winds by the Burleigh Headlands, but when the swell is on, you can expect excellent surf conditions at this picturesque beach, not far from our Gold Coast holiday rentals. It can get a little busy here when conditions are good, but it’s worth carving out some space to experience the famous ‘Burleigh barrels’ for yourself.
